The Month of September in Books

September has been one of my most productive reading months in quite some time.

It started with the 1984 Booker Prize winning Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner, meandered through two episodes of Terry Brooks’ Landover Series, The Black Unicorn and Wizard at Large and took a brief detour into the world of Kingsley Amis’ The Old Devils. And the final offering of the month was the first installment in Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series – Northern Lights.

The reviews for each can be read by clicking on the links above.  Or if you would like to read some alternative reviews you can visit the Amazon pages below for other readers’ views.

Hotel du Lac - Anita Brookner
The Black Unicorn - Terry Brooks
Wizard at Large - Terry Brooks
The Old Devils - Kingsley Amis
The Golden Compass or Northern Lights - Philip Pullman

And that was the month of September in books. I’m looking forward to October, I have some Douglas Adams waiting for my attention along with the earliest Booker winners and a period Pulitzer piece.
Happy reading everyone.
