Oh Waily Waily began a crazy 10 years ago this month. I can hardly believe it as I type it, but there are archives to prove it !
Here is my very first foray into blogging, imaginatively titled Oh Waily Waily begins.
As you can see, the format was very different back then. The blogging was an extension of a group email I used to send to friends scattered to all parts of the globe, rather fancifully named Cerebral Mutterings. Please cut me some slack, I was young and pretentious.
The premise was to give my friends a small update on what was going on with us, and to send some funny and positive thoughts to brighten their days.
Things altered a bit once I’d been blogging for a while and the quotes became less, the book reviews a little more and some general ramblings came after that. Then we had kids and the whole shooting match changed again.
Life. Ever evolving.
Anyway, the point of this blog post is to say that I miss some aspects of that early blogging style and for the month of November I am going to be going a touch retro. There may be pieces of extended writing but for the most part I’m returning to my roots and trying to find some uplifting, funny, thought-provoking quotes, proverbs and short pieces to share with you.
To finish this first retro piece I shall turn back to the very first Oh Waily post and extract items that are still favourites to this day.
Our quote today is:
“One thing you can’t recycle is wasted time.”
– Anonymous
And our proverb is:
“Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic.”
I hope you enjoy the next month of blog posts, and please feel free to suggest your favourite quotes or quotable people.
Congratulations! That is a big deal. I can’t imagine having a blog for that long but that’s probably because I’m such a baby to the blogosphere.

Thank you!
Time definitely flies, and you won’t be a baby in blogosphere terms for long. (Rather like the real small people. 😉 )

Isn’t that just the truth though! We (I) often seem to stumble along not noticing the time wasters in life, then wonder what we’ve been up to in that 10 years. 🙂
